Weight Loss - Finger on That Lip
Have you been trying to lose weight but just don't seem to be able to make the cut? Do you use your family, friends and worse, husbands or wives to be your diet police? You initially ask for their help then regret doing that big time shortly after.
You are not alone.
Maybe this is why you fail because even though you have the best intentions in the world, you set yourself up for 'diet police' failure.
You may be saying to yourself - I just want to lose a few pounds and I need help to do so.
Well my advice to you is do not, I repeat, do not employ your loved ones for this role.
Even if they know the steps to fat reduction, they are not the right people for you to have as your coach.
Here's why - when we confide in our nearest and dearest with our weight loss goals, wants and desires we put ourselves in a vulnerable position.
Before you know it you get the word - "Are you suppose to be eating that" or worse "Don't eat that, it will make you fatter" or "I am just trying to help" Then there is "One little piece of cheesecake won't hurt will it" Sound familiar? Well this kind of support is really not what you need when you embark on a fat reduction path.
As soon as someone you love tells you "you cant have that," you will want it more, the desire will be too great to overcome.
So zip that lip and keep your mouth shut.
Nobody else can do this for you and if you want to give away the responsibility to others, the process will always be as it has been in the past.
The bottom line is you have to take responsibility for yourself and your outcome if you want to reduce the fat and keep it off long term.
It is important to: -Make goals and slip them quietly into your daily lifestyle.
-You don't have to shout it from the rooftops - you only have to save yourself not the world.
-You need to be able to go out for dinner once in a while and order dessert or whatever you really feel like without the guilt or the possible condemnation.
-Ditch the diet mentality and all that goes with it - of course you will have to make healthy food choices most of the time and work on slowly getting fit - that is what all healthy people do.
There is no secret to it.
-Give yourself plenty of time - '10 lbs in 10 days,' I don't think so.
Make your goals realistic and achievable for long term success.
And remember, you don't have to be perfect, you just have to get going.
Lastly, when people want to know the secret to your new body shape, quietly pat yourself on the back and say "it's steps not secrets" and go about your day.
