This is a big problem for two reasons: It is unpleasant for you to have to spend time with these people, and you also worry that maybe their disapproval could influence your man's feelings for you. Read the following tips so that getting along with them wouldn't be so awkward.

There is that innate protective instinct to shut out the "intruder" (that's you) whose invading their family. Furthermore, his mom may feel that she's being replaced. So, reassure her that she is still number one by asking her for advice on your guy. Lastly, parents feel threatened that if you come from a different background, religion and tradition that might conflict on their own, and they are afraid that you might influence their son. So let them know that you are open to learning new culture so it is clear that the two of you can coexist.

2. TRYING HARD TO BE BESTFRIENDS IS A NO-NO. One thing that you have to clearly remember is that you don't have to be BFF with his mom or his folks. You just have to get along. Avoid the urge to force a familial relationship since basically these people are strangers. You have to think of them as your equal and not your superiors because this is a way that you could feel more at ease and really be yourself.

3. YOU ARE A WOMAN OF GOOD INTENTION, AND YOU CARE ABOUT THEIR SON. It is in every parents to be concerned of their child's well being so they need the assurance that you wont break their little boy's heart. What's the point of them connecting to you, when they think that your not going to stay for long? SO when you are in front of the parents, you could hold his hand, kiss his cheek, or share a story about how he made you laugh.

However, if you have done ALL these things but still, his parents are being evil, then it is time to STAND UP FOR YOURSELF. D If you refused to be pushed around, this will show them that you deserve to be respected. Lay down the law because if you don't, the problems are going to escalate.
