How to Whitewash Unfinished Furniture
- 1). If the furniture is painted chip off the paint by applying paint thinner and sanding it off. Sand the surface of the unfinished furniture until it's smooth if not already done. Wipe off the surface with a wet rag to remove all wood particles and dust.
- 2). Use the other rag to apply the whitewash to the surface of the furniture. Using plenty of whitewash is okay make sure every inch of the surface is covered. Wipe off the excess whitewash.
- 3). You may need to apply additional coats to get the color you want. Typically 2 coats will suffice. You should allow roughly 4 hours before applying a second coat.
- 4). When all coats are applied let it dry for 24 hours. Be sure not to touch the furniture during this time because it will stain your clothes.
