How to Sew a Laptop Cover
- 1). Lay the T-shirt turned inside-out on a firm, flat surface. Pull the bottom hem of the T-shirt up, folding the shirt in half, until the hem touches the shoulders. Make sure the front and back of the hem are aligned.
- 2). Pin the outer edges of the folded shirt into place. Pin horizontally so they don't snag on the sewing machine foot. Ensure that all four layers of fabric are pinned.
- 3). Lay your laptop on top of the shirt either vertically or horizontally. Personal preference and proper fit dictate the direction.
- 4). Mark the shirt about an inch from the outer edges of the laptop. Remove the laptop and use the ruler to draw straight, vertical lines from the top of the shirt to the bottom, using your markings as a guide.
- 5). Sew the shirt on the lines, starting at the bottom. Remove the pins as you go. Sew to the edge of top of the shirt, backstitch a half inch and sew to the top again, in order to reinforce the edges.
- 6). Trim excess material on both sides about an inch from seam. Turn the T-shirt right side-out.
