Dominion Tank Police

The Bottom Line
Not for the conservative-minded, Dominion Tank Police is a suggestive, racy anime with lots of metal, brutality and innuendo. In this 1989 prequel to the original manga, you'll get some good background info on the Tank Police and their origins but don't expect to be spellbound when the show is over. Still, it is a Shirow creation and it definitely has its moments.

Guide Review - Dominion Tank Police
Based on the manga by Masamune Shirow (Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed), Dominion Tank Police takes place in the fictional city of Newport, Japan in the year 2010. Crime has gotten way out of control and the world is covered by a poisonous cloud that forces its inhabitants to wear gas masks in order to survive.
Enter the Tank Police, an elite crime-fighting force that wants to clean things up. Leona is their newest recruit and is the first woman to join the force. The members drive tanks - Leona's is called Bonaparte - and enlist some rather brutal tactics in their pursuit of justice.
On the agenda are two pumas - android catgirls who were originally created to be love dolls but morphed into criminals instead and joined forces with Buaku, the arched enemy of the Tank Police.
Dominion Tank Police is extravagantly racy, filled with adult humor and scantily clad catgirls roaming about. In this 4-part OVA, you'll find some silliness to the first two episodes and then the storyline takes on a serious note for the last two installments. Definitely not for the kiddos but still one worth watching.
