Losing weight is a big challenge for most people who undertake this daunting task.
You must understand that there is more to it than just what you eat and how much physical activity is in your schedule.
These are very important, but so is your mental outlook on your life.
If you feel depressed and overwhelmed, you will have a difficult time doing healthy things just because you cannot get past the negativity in your life.
We all have it, but the objective is to deal with it and get past it.
Try these simple activities to keep yourself in a positive frame of mind.
You will be surprised how much easier you will find it to achieve your goals by doing things that keep your frame of mind positive.
Count Your Blessings.
Take time each day to recount at least 5 things that you have to be thankful for.
Most of could probably come up with a list that would include many more than 5 items, but you get the point here.
It will keep you focused on what you have in your life that is positive and keep you from dwelling on negative situations.
This exercise should be conducted in a tranquil setting allowing for a stress free period of time permitting you to decompress from the hectic events of the day.
Keep a journal.
Write about things that make you happy.
Write about things that bother you.
Write about your goals and dreams and what you think you need to do to reach them.
Just write.
You will soon see how writing can help you to achieve what you want and how it can help you deal with things that may otherwise cause you to eat compulsively.
Laugh.
I once knew someone who was suffering from clinical depression and one of the things that his therapist advised him to do was watch a sit-com on television every day.
There are many things that make us laugh.
Pick out your favorite and watch it or talk about it.
Play with a pet.
There is nothing that does more to relieve stress than playing with a pet.
The medical profession has realized the value of pets in healing and therapy and they are now regulars in many nursing homes and hospital wards.
Pets can help us deal with many things that happen in our lives.
Sometimes it is things other than food that have the biggest impact on our lives.
If we can deal with the things and the events in our lives that cause us stress in ways that do not involve compulsive eating you will be well on your way to reaching your weight loss goals.
