How to Make Crinkle Paint
- 1). Paint your project in the darker of the two contrasting colors you have chosen. Allow this base coat to dry before applying the next layer.
- 2). Apply a layer of glue to your dried, painted project. You can do this with a paintbrush, or you may choose to use your hands to thoroughly cover the surface of your work. Allow the glue to dry just until it is tacky. This should only take a few minutes.
- 3). Paint the contrasting, lighter acrylic paint over the top of the tacky glue coat. Try to use one long stroke to paint this layer, rather than going over and over it with the paintbrush. You may want to consider thinning your coat of lighter, contrasting color as this will cause more crackling. Experiment with different techniques until you find what works best for you and your project.
- 4). Allow your project to dry completely. As it dries, the glue will cause the top layer of paint to crinkle, resulting in a weathered look for your project.
- 5). Cover the project with another layer of glue, if you desire. This layer will act as a sealant on your project.
